Rust is an online multiplayer survival video game developed by Facepunch Studios and published by Double Eleven. The game was initially released in early access on December 11, 2013, for Microsoft Windows, macOS, and Linux, with a full release on February 8, 2018.
Rust is rated M (Mature) by ESRB, meaning it's intended for players aged 17 and up. In Europe, the PEGI rates the game as 16+. These ratings are not arbitrary numbers they exist for a reason.
The game takes place in a brutal, post-apocalyptic setting where survival is the goal. Players can engage in intense violence with realistic shootings, explosions, and bloodshed. A player may even collect body parts from fallen enemies and cook them to serve as food. Rust isn't for the faint-hearted.
But it's not just the violence that makes Rust suitable for adults only. The game includes:
• Nudity (though it can be disabled in settings)
• Strong language
• Unpredictable online interactions
This last point is fundamental. While the game's content is consistently adult, the online community can be even more extreme. It's not uncommon to encounter racist, homophobic, or sexist language from other players, especially younger ones trying to gain attention.
As a player, it's important to understand what you're getting into with Rust. It's a game that can bring out both the best and worst in people. The survival aspects can be exciting, and the community can sometimes be incredible. But it can also expose players to some of the darker sides of human behavior. Rust is definitely not suitable for children.
Even for adults, it's a game that requires resilience and the ability to deal with adult themes and potentially offensive interactions.
Rust is known for its challenging nature and requires a steep learning curve as players figure out the best strategies to survive in its harsh world. The game has maintained popularity due to its unique blend of survival, crafting, base building, and PvP gameplay.

Rust is a constantly evolving game, and it is impossible to predict every scenario in advance. If you encounter a situation that is not described in the rules, contact the moderation team on Discord for guidance.
Many of these infractions may result in a warning first, but some justify an immediate ban. Players with a history of rule violations may be banned regardless of how much time has passed since the infraction.
Hacking is strictly prohibited and results in an immediate ban.
Failure to comply with these rules may result in temporary suspension or permanent removal from the server.
If a player is game banned or banned from the server for any reason, they may not return to play on another account. When we catch players doing this, they are banned again for Ban Evasion.
Associating with these players can — and often will — result in a ban for you or your entire team, depending on the situation.
We do not expect you to know the full history of every person you play with. However, when there is clear and undeniable evidence that a player helped another evade a ban, that player will be banned from the server.
Using a VPN is not recommended, although most VPNs are allowed. However, VPNs frequently used by cheaters may be blocked at our discretion.
Note: Due to the hacker problem in Rust, if you are playing with a VPN, a new account, a private profile, or a suspicious profile, you may be banned.
We take pride in carefully selecting our team, but we know mistakes can happen.
